How do I setup my Asus router to work with Chromecast/Roku?

Disclaimer : ​This is an advanced tutorial meant for users who are comfortable with following below instructions to setup their Asus router to work with Chromecast/Roku devices with our Freedom DNS. In case of any corruption to the router settings, it is always recommended to perform a backup of your existing router settings before proceeding.

Step 1 - Login to the Router
a. Type http://192.168.1.1 into your preferred web browser address bar.

b. Enter your router username and password. Default credentials provided below : 
    Username : admin​​​​
    Password : admin

Step 2 - Add Static Routes
a. Copy down your "LAN IP"​(on the right hand side of the screen) and click on "LAN"

​b. Click on "Route"

​c. Toggle "Enable Static Routes" to "Yes"

Add the following to the route list:
  • Network/Host IP : 8.8.8.8​
  • Netmask : 255.255.255.255
  • Gateway : *The IP you copied in Step 2a*
  • Metric : 2
  • Interface : LAN or LAN & Wireless
​d. Click on "Add"


e. Repeat steps 2c. and 2d. for the following IP addresses below as well :
  • Network/Host IP : 8.8.4.4
  • Netmask : 255.255.255.255
  • Gateway : *The IP you copied in Step 2a*
  • Metric : 2
  • Interface : LAN or LAN & Wireless
  • Network/Host IP : 208.67.222.222
  • Netmask : 255.255.255.255
  • Gateway : *The IP you copied in Step 2a*
  • Metric : 2
  • Interface : LAN or LAN & Wireless
  • Network/Host IP : 208.67.220.220
  • Netmask : 255.255.255.255
  • Gateway : *The IP you copied in Step 2a*
  • Metric : 2
  • Interface : LAN or LAN & Wireless

f. Click on "Apply​"
